  1. Pace 56 Solo Amiga Upgrade Utility - V2.0 update
  2. ================================================

  4. This is an updated version of the upgrade program - it does *not* include
  5. a new version of the firmware (V2.04 is currently the latest firmware
  6. version).
  7.  
  8. Therefore, to run this program, you will first need a copy of the
  9. full firmware upgrade archive, available at
  10.

  13. Simply copy the included SoloUp program over the old version of the
  14. program, and then you will be able to use it.
  15.  
  16. Why use the new version?  Well, it contains a number of improvements
  17. (detailed below) with the main aim of making the upgrader easier to
  18. use and more reliable.  The new version will be included with the next
  19. firmware version that Pace release (V2.05 probably), but I have released
  20. it separately for those of you who have not yet flashed to V2.04 or need
  21. to reflash your Solo.

  23. Changes

  26.  - New improved user interface
  27.  - Various settings, including the serial settings, are now remembered
  28.    (saved on exit, loaded on startup)
  29.  - The current firmware version of your Solo is now displayed before and
  30.    after the upgrade
  31.  - Can now "repair" your Solo (in most cases) in the unlikely event that
  32.    the upgrader fails while flashing the new firmware (having left your
  33.    Solo in a seemingly dead state)
  34.  - The upgrade process is now performed by a separate task, run at a
  35.    higher priority - will prevent Executive from interfering and will
  36.    maybe decrease the risk of errors, especially for the internal serial
  37.    port
  38.  - Name and location of the log file can now be chosen
  39.  - Log files are now appended to instead of being overwritten
  40.  - More detailed info logged for any errors that occur
  41.  - Logging forced on when upgrading the firmware
  42.  - Log file is no longer kept open during the upgrade process
